"OAK GOV" Notification Delivery System
A NEW community wide notification system has been implemented by Oakland County; this replaces our previously used system (NIXLE). The Franklin / Bingham Farms Police and Fire Departments are now utilizing this system to notify all registered residents via a text message or an e-mail of any emergency or important public service information. To register for this notification system, visit the Village of Franklin website (www.franklin.mi.us). Registration instructions can be found in the Police Department section. All residents are encouraged to register so we may contact you, regardless if you had previously registered for NIXLE. Any questions regarding this program please contact the Police Department @ (248) 626-9672.
Knox Box Program now offered to homeowners
The Franklin-Bingham Fire Department is involved in the Knox-Box key security program. This voluntary program enables our residents to safeguard their house key for public safety access during an emergency response to their homes. While there is a cost to obtain a key box, your puchase and participation in the program does come with benefits. One of these benefits is our ability to gain access to your home during an emergency, rather than entering by the use of force. Since each response is unique, the Fire Department can not and does not guarantee box use every time; however, on the majority of occasions when Knox-Box use is required, homeowners can be saved a great deal of stress and money. To order a box, please call the fire station at 248.626.9862 and ask to speak with the Fire Chief. Please note that this is a public service to the community by the fire department and as such, no funds are generated for the fire department as a result of sales.
